3 Verses To Help You On Your Self-Care Journey
As life gets busier serving and caring for others, it gets harder to keep taking care of ourselves. Self-care is essential. It is not selfish, and it is important to keep God's word in mind to know what He says about self-care. Read on for 3 Bible verses that we hope will help you on your self-care journey this season! ◡̈
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
– Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
Jesus wants to take our burdens. He says, "I will give you rest." He did not say, "Buck up before you come to me." He knows we are not perfect, but He loves us with an unconditional love anyway. The rest that He provides is like no rest we can receive on earth.
Spend more time in the Word, and rest in the Lord. When you feel rested, healthier self-care choices will come naturally to you.

You were God's expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 TPT
When we care for our bodies and make an intentional effort to take care of our health, we are essentially taking care of the temple that houses the Holy Spirit – honouring the blessing of health and the body that God has gifted us to do His will ◡̈
Take some time today to think about some ways you can make better choices – whether in your diet or your exercise regime.
A tender, tranquil heart will make you healthy, but jealousy can make you sick.
– Proverbs 14:30 TPT
Envy is another emotion that can steal your joy and keep you from experiencing the fullness of all that God has for you. Taking care of your emotional health means exposing all the emotions that you feel to the light of God's Word.
Comparison is a joy-killer. Quit doing that mental comparison with others around you. You will never be like them, and they will never be like you. Come experience and enjoy the true freedom that only comes from standing and believing the Word of God.
