Plug Into The Source (God Is Our Power Source)

‘Yet for us there is only one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things and for Whom we have life, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through and by Whom are all things and through and by Whom we ourselves exist.’

– 1 Corinthians 8:6

God is our Power Source. He is the perfect and on-time Source for everything you could ever need or want. The only catch is you have to receive Him as your one and only Source by faith. The Word of God will renew your mind, feed your faith, and get you where you need to be; to receive all that you need. If you allow Him, God is able to do more than we ask or think, and His power is working within us on a daily basis. So how do we plug into God’s power for our lives?

Pray for His power

“A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian.” – Joshua Selman

When we exercise the power of prayer, things happen in the spirit realm. God remembers every prayer we pray, and each one prayed with the power of the Holy Spirit has an effect on earth. The extent of what God will do for man is proportionate to the measure of his prayer.

Prayer is simply communication with God. It’s nothing mystical or fancy. Not only will we be able to build a closer relationship with God and know Him better, prayer also changes us through listening, patience, and dwelling in His transformative presence. This happens as we listen to His heart, acknowledge Him, and exercise patience while waiting on Him. And as we are changed, we are better positioned to wield the power of God not just in our own lives, but in the lives of the people around us.

Obey His instructions

Obeying God in the small things is an essential step in receiving God’s power in our lives. Often, God’s greatest blessings come as a result of our willingness to do something that appears insignificant. Obeying God is always the wisest course of action, and when we obey Him, we are never disappointed. Each step of obedience takes us to a higher level of knowing Him, and wielding His power. In obedience, He can take our emptiness — in finances, relationships, career, or any area — and transform it into something beautiful.

Worship His majesty

Worship is so much more than singing songs in church on a Sunday morning. Worship is surrendering our lives to God, and putting our focus on Him instead of our personal preferences and priorities. Often, worship involves a personal sacrifice of our own feelings and fears so that we can give Him the full attention that He deserves. Even in times of pain and loss, we ought to be like David and say, “I feel so much pain, I’m in agony. But I’m going toward God because I need Him more now than ever.”

Psalm 22:19-22

But You, Lord, do not be far away;

You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.

Save my soul from the sword,

My only life from the power of the dog.

Save me from the lion’s mouth;

From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.

I will proclaim Your name to my brothers;

In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

Expect His blessings

God honours those who honour Him. And He wants you to expect to be blessed. As a child of God, you’ve already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. It has been made clear in Isaiah 30:18 – “Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.” Are you expectant that His goodness and blessings will take place in your life?

Rejoice in Him

Rejoicing in Him is expressing great pleasure and joy because our Redeemer lives, because we belong to Him, and because He makes all things new. No matter the circumstances, Paul wrote that we can rejoice in the Lord always, and we do that by taking our eyes off ourselves and turning to Him.

Here are 3 things I would encourage you to declare and acknowledge before you start your day:

‘God is with me.’

The Bible makes it clear that God will never leave us (Deuteronomy 3:16). No matter what you have been facing recently, acknowledge and declare God’s presence with you. You are never alone.

‘God is for me.’

Romans 8:31 states clearly, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Declare daily that God is on your side, that God is fighting for you.

‘God is working within me.’

Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” Always remember that God’s power is at work within you daily.

God desires a deep and lasting relationship with us. He wants us to be a part of His eternal family. As His children, He yearns for us to stay charged and on fire for His way of life, so we can build the character and relationships necessary to lead others to Him.
