Article: Whom The Lord Loves, He Corrects

Whom The Lord Loves, He Corrects

We often view correction as an attempt to keep us from doing what we really want, rather than an act of love to guide us toward a more abundant life. As humans in this fallen world, it is our pride and lack of revelation that keeps us from allowing God to correct us.

It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is impaired may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

– Hebrews 12:7-14

If we truly know the abundant life on the other side of discipline, we would be running to the forming hands of God rather than hiding from them. If we had a revelation on the incredible plans that God longs to equip us for, we would be yearning for the loving correction of our Father, and not holding back the broken places in our hearts.

He longs to correct every area of your heart that isn't bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

He longs to provide discipline for your sin.

He has greater plans for you that you could ever ask for or imagine. Will you allow Him to mould and shape you through discipline so that He can work in and through you for greater purposes?

This week, may we encourage you to open your heart to His loving discipline. Allow Him to mould and shape you into the likeness of Jesus. Spend time to allow His love to wash you clean and free you from the bonds of sin.

We pray that you will have a powerful encounter with the loving discipline of your heavenly Father this week!
