Article: Rejoicing In Tough Times

Rejoicing In Tough Times

In any walk of life, there will be times of great blessings and times of great difficulties. There will be times when you feel full of joy, and there will be times when you feel quite desperate. The ability to finding joy in hard times is facilitated by having the correct attitude and knowledge.

How do we do it – rejoice in tough times?

1. Remind yourself of His promises

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
– Psalm 34:18

God promised that He will never leave nor forsake us – allow that to be your daily reminder that no matter what you are dealing with, He is always with you. We serve a God who is always near, and we can rejoice in the fact that God is still with us even when we are 'broken'.

2. Rest in God's Timing

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
– Ecclesiastes 3:11

In God's perfect timing, He will make all things beautiful within your life. Turn your eyes back to Him today, and rest in His Word. Hardships are not an eternal thing; someday the seeds will bloom, and we will see the rainbow at the end. Fix our eyes on God, He will change your season of struggle into a season of rest.

3. Cast your disappointment at the feet of the King

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
– 1 Peter 5:7

Nothing will rob your joy more than harbouring on the frustrations and disappointments. Don't sit and habour on how bad this season of your life is going, but cast all of your disappointment, sadness, weariness and depression at His feet. When we cast it all to God, we're essentially telling Him that He is is a ruler overall, and we are submitting the season of our lives to Him.
