Article: Asking God for Help (Cry Out to Him)

Asking God for Help (Cry Out to Him)

Asking God for help in dark times is something that we see so often in Scripture.

“Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you!” (Psalm 102:1)

Why should we cry out to God?

Asking God for Help (Cry Out to Him)

The answer is simple: God loves us so much! He made us and understands our feelings like no one else does. Nothing compares.

We cry out to God because our Father hears us, empathises with our pain and suffering. He knows our hearts, and is able to help us in ways we can't even fully comprehend. God never turns away a broken and repentant heart.

"I cried out to Him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!" – Psalm 66:17-20

What's the meaning behind asking God for help?

To those asking God for help, crying out to Him means praying with genuine humility, surrender, and seeking His unfailing mercy. It means recognizing our own helplessness and sins, and also trusting that God is able to aid us in our time of real need.

God hears

In short, God desires for us to have a relationship with Him that is real and from the heart. He wants us to lean into His ways and understanding, not on our own self-righteous decisions that often led to brokenness.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." – Proverbs 3:5-6

We pray that today, you will find great comfort knowing that God hears you every time you cry out to Him.

"I was crying out to the Lord with my voice, and He answered me from His holy mountain." – Psalm 3:4

Asking God for Help (Cry Out to Him) 2

It takes both faith and humility to share our hearts with God, knowing that He can show us a better path. Asking God for help is a way for us to express our trust in His sovereign ability, and our willingness to let Him straighten our paths.

When we call upon His mighty name, we lay down our pride. We put aside aside our attitude of self-sufficiency. In addition, we also turn to Him knowing that God is love, and He is good.

By His divine will, God may not always respond immediately. This can be hard for us to accept at first, especially when we're facing really hard situations...

However, as Christians, one thing we know for sure is this: we can always count on His comfort and presence to move, according to His perfect timing. ◡̈ Remember, there is never any shame in asking God for help! You are free to approach His throne of grace with humble confidence, no matter the issue.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." – 1 Peter 5:6
